The Prevalence and Treatment of Clinical Depression

Clinical depression is a serious medical condition that affects millions of people throughout the world. Also known as major depression disorder, clinical depression is experienced by various types of people in many different walks of life. Some of these may include an overwhelming feeling of loss, anxiety, or pessimism, a rapid gain or loss in weight, disturbances in sleep patterns, fatigue, self-harm, and suicidal tendencies. Another method of help available to those with clinical depression is medication and dietary supplements. MAOI’s, SSRI’s, and other popular forms of medication have helped the majority of people suffering with the condition. These can be prescribed by a doctor. Dietary supplements, on the other hand, can be acquired over the counter and have been shown to be effective in combating clinical depression.
